Basu was a startup next-gen on-demand bus service, based out of Portland, Oregon. Sadly, this particular startup was a nonstarter.
‘Basu’ is Japanese for ‘Bus’. Initially I explored Japanese seal-style executions, but that was too obvious. Righting myself, I landed on simple, modern, geometric and playful — common traits of modern Japanese design but not exclusive to the region.
The logo design presentation pitch below was approved on the first round.
(I didn’t even get a chance to sell-in its stackability due to the letter’s equal widths. Perhaps if the project is taken off the shelf, I can make that happen.)
